Quest Room FAQ

What is Quest Room? Are you like other escape rooms?

Quest Room offers unique escape experiences that have been carefully curated to offer great variation in aesthetic design and featuring high-level electronics. Our use of aesthetics and electronics makes our experiences a bit more exciting but perhaps a little less straight-forward than traditional escapes that utilise a lot of manual inputs. We are proud of the experiences we have developed, are passionate for pushing boundaries and have been capturing the imagination of Brisbane for many years since we made it our mission to do so. We want to entertain you and believe we are lucky to have an incredible team of skilled enthusiasts. We value our quality-over-quantity operational approach in delivering such experiences that we believe offer more engaging environments for our Questers and are more conducive to cooperation.

How do I book and make payment? Can we split payment?

Online bookings via our website are essential, with full payment in advance required to reserve a session with us. Split payments may only be achieved by reserving the minimum number confirmed in your online booking first. Any additional players wishing to pay on site via EFTPOS/card facilities upon arrival will be charged at the rate of 1/5 of the cost of a 5 person experience.

Nervous, anxious or have questions regarding safety?

Whilst some of our experiences do contain darker themes or terror elements, we do not perform any jump scares (humans attempting to surprise or scare you intentionally) and most of our experiences have an entry door that remains unlocked, with our ‘locked’ experiences featuring an emergency release that enables safe ‘exit’ at any time if required. Concerned about claustrophobia or have some further questions or concerns relating to any elements of our experiences? Give us a call and we will happily assist to answer your questions and assuage your concerns, hopefully without spoiling too much.

How long is each game? What if we run out of time?

Most of our experiences offer a 60 minute time-limit to complete. Typically, we may not be able to extend such time but we sometimes can! Questers that are well prepared and arrive early for their activity are more likely to have this offer available if the need should arise, however we cannot guarantee it. We may be able to demonstrate the remaining interactions in your experience in the event that you do not complete or offer to do this another time upon your return should our time or your plans not permit. We really enjoy seeing our Questers succeed or get the most out of their time with us.

Any preparation needed? When should we arrive?

Nothing special to prepare beforehand except your journey to us! It is important to allow 15+mins for arrival and entry to the venue before the start time of your session, as your experience time-limit begins at the scheduled session start time. You will not enter the experience immediately as you will need to complete registration requirements before entry and receive instruction from one of our Quest Masters to prepare for your departure. We understand that things sometimes happen and that other humans can sometimes be hard to organise. We want you to get the most out of your experience with us, however may need to make some adjustments in the event that you are late, as “on-time” would be considered as 15mins+ before your scheduled session start time. Allow yourself enough time to find the venue, park your vehicle if necessary, find your friends, find a way inside, relieve and refresh yourself, complete entry requirements etc.

In fact, we recommend lying to your worst-offending friends about the start time (did we just say that out loud?) so that everyone can arrive 15mins+ before your earliest session time. We recommend that you do NOT trust the arrival time you are given by apps that provide maps or GPS technology and allow for unexpected delays travelling toward and through the Brisbane CBD.

Help us to deliver a more engaging experience for you, instead of one where we are rushing to avoid penalising time or affecting the experiences of other Questers. We might come across as less friendly or less interested in you. We never want to rush you into a room nor rush you out the door, so please do your best…and we will too!

We have more than 5 people - can we all play together?

Unfortunately not in the same experience. Families with young children we will consider making an exception for on an individual basis only and ask that you please contact us directly first. We recommend forming multiple smaller groups if your maximum exceeds five. Please understand that there are few limited moments where physical space was a consideration, however we have set operational boundaries to ensure we can deliver engaging experiences. We do not feel that the same level of engagement occurs within larger group settings and have consciously chosen not to focus on catering to such. We apologise if this creates some inconveniences but we hope you can respect that our decisions come from our passion and unwavering commitment to the experiences of all of our Questers. We don’t consider to have sacrificed profit if our end result is more happy Questers.

What's the ideal team/group size?

We would suggest no more than five of course but the answer can vary greatly for different people. Escape Enthusiasts might sometimes be heard saying “three is a magic number” whereas some others may find more heads offer more varied ideas. Smaller groups will likely have a greater challenge than larger groups.

If we can instead suggest a tip in choosing your Questing Companions: pick people that you believe will communicate, share in the experience and have fun with you! The most successful Quests we believe are those where Questers all share information on their discoveries, discuss ideas and actions before they are executed.

Can we walk-in or just show up for a game?

No, sorry! By all means you can always try but it’s highly possible your journey may only end in disappointment, especially if done during peak times on weekends. Advanced online bookings are essential to visit us and our availability is shown live on our website. We might be here and answer the door if you visit but we may not have the capacity to setup and deliver an experience immediately for you. Plan ahead and please don’t miss your preferred session!

I saw a session time was available earlier on your site, can I just come now?

No, sorry! Our industry is demand-driven and our Quest Masters need a bit of minimum notice to be engaged for delivering an entertaining experience for you. Our bookings site allows notice enough for our Quest Masters to setup and deliver an experience for you. We do our best to offer as much flexibility and availability as possible and always strive to ensure our Questers can be engaged by Quest Masters that are resourced well to deliver a great experience.

Can we book multiple rooms to start at the same time?

Our scheduled times are always staggered to meet our operational needs, though if you reserve multiple sessions that are near to one another, we will bring these closer together as best as possible on the day and have you starting/finishing very near the same time (dependent on the individual outcomes of experiences). Additional information can be found in the group bookings FAQ section further below

Is there parking available?

We do not have a carpark on-site, though commercial loading zones outside our front door become inactive weekday evenings and weekends. Often Questers find parking on Little Edward Street without needing to pay for meters or access secure paid parking. Check signage upon arrival and consider area limits when determining where to best park.

What is your cancellation policy?

Quest Room is a live event so once the booking is confirmed; refunds, cancellations or reschedules are not accepted. 24 hours notice given may allow us to reschedule to a future available session for you but this cannot be guaranteed. We understand sometimes things can happen and encourage you to contact us directly in the event of extreme circumstances. We will do our best to absorb any impacts we can as we have often done in more recent times of pandemics affecting public places.

I don't think I'm very smart...will this be too hard for me?

We don’t think so because we believe that intelligence comes in many forms. We have also found that Questers who shared have shared similar feelings with us before have actually ended up with the most ‘Hero’ moments in their groups!

We provide unlimited assistance if desired and aim to do this at a level the group may seem to wish for. We are invested in giving you a great time, regardless of your experience or how you feel about your capacity…so don’t sell yourself short!

If you are still a bit unsure, consider speaking to us directly and get some advice to prepare or select your experience. Choosing to come at a time outside of our peak operating (weekends are busy!) may allow us to spend more time preparing you…or possibly offer some additional time for you if needed and the circumstances allow us to.

Do you have Gift Vouchers?

Yes! You can gift someone a Quest Room with vouchers available here: https://questroom.com.au/gift-vouchers/

Disability, Access or Support information?

Our venue is not fully accessible for wheelchair users, we are sorry to say. Wheelchair users have attended Quest Room successfully in the past, with some degree of assistance or transfer capacity. Please contact us directly for further information regarding access and we will happily offer as much information and support to make access achievable for as many Questers as we can.

Companion Cards are accepted at Quest Room however payment for a minimum of 2 players is required. We may consider allowing slightly increased capacity where multiple companions are supporting multiple participants (i.e. 3 + 3) and encourage you to contact us directly for such arrangements.

Special Occasions information?

Want to let us know about something special happening or have us assist to create a special moment at Quest Room? Get in touch with us directly and we may be able to assist!

Families, children and age information?

Is there an age limit?
Questers aged 18+ can make a booking on our website. Questers under 18 years must have an adult present in-person at the time of their session to register and accept responsibility for their booking. Questers under 15 years require active supervision by at least one adult as a participating member of the experience.

Which experiences are family-friendly?
‘Darkness’ is the only experience of ours that we would currently say is unsuitable for families. Flying Dutchman is often a popular choice for Families, though very young children sometimes can find the reduced lighting aboard a pirate ship to be a little scary. Unfamiliar environments, noises and lighting may also contribute to the anxiety of younger Questers or those with diverse sensory needs.

Can’t the kids just play themselves? I’m too old for this…
Sorry, no! We are not an activity designed or intended for children specifically. There are some Escape Rooms in existence that are more focused toward or cater to children, though most do still require adult supervision. Escape Rooms are largely an adult’s playground…but we probably all remember a time when, as children, we would want to do anything the ‘grown-ups’ were doing that we thought was cool. We get it…but we hope you appreciate that children require some boundaries. Don’t let us discourage you from arranging a fun activity for the kids; just know that children require a bit more work (from all of us, together) to support and deliver experiences for successfully.

Can someone who is pregnant play the game safely?
Normally we say yes but this is obviously at your own risk. It doesn’t require major physical challenges and as long as you have a supportive team, we think you’ll do just fine. We haven’t delivered any babies here yet!

What about our family’s eldest generations?
Bring the grandparents or even the great grandparents! They’ll probably have more fun than you (and we’ll probably enjoy hosting them more than you…no offense!) Nothing is too physically demanding but if a moment of bending or crawling is very challenging, feel free to talk to us directly and we may be able to offer information or support to make their participation possible or more comfortable.

Larger Groups, Corporate & Functions information?

Maximum capacity?
We can accommodate up to a maximum of 5 per Quest and up to 29 concurrently across our 6 unique Quests including Darkness [which only holds max. 4 and is sometimes seen as unsuitable to some groups, especially professionals as it is set in pitch black and participants are blindfolded the entire time] but we can run multiple sessions of the same experience back-to-back as well

Can our Quests all start at the same time?
Our scheduled times are always staggered to meet our operational needs, though if you reserve multiple sessions that are near to one another, we will bring these closer together as best as possible on the day and have you starting/finishing very near the same time (dependent on the individual outcomes of experiences)

Should we all arrive at different times then?
No, come together and come early! In fact, we recommend lying to your worst-offending friends and colleagues about the start time (did we just say that out loud?) so that everyone can arrive 15mins+ before earliest session times. We recommend that you do NOT trust the arrival time you are given by apps that provide maps or use GPS technology and allow for unexpected delays in travel toward and through the Brisbane CBD. We would recommend basing your start time off the 1st/earliest Quest booked, with an arrival to venue 15+ mins before this session time for a larger group. Allow yourself enough time to find the venue, park your vehicle if necessary, find your friends, find a way inside, relieve and refresh yourself, complete entry requirements etc. Assist us to ensure you are well introduced and prepared before you all embark on your Quests [and consider your event will have an overall runtime that is longer than just the 60 or 90 minutes inside scenarios].

Can we book multiple rooms?
Multiple sessions can be booked at once by choosing to add another booking after confirming the details of your first and before the final checkout process. We can bring session start times closer together and stagger them appropriately for your group on the day but work from your earliest Quest booked as your starting point and choose the desired scenario sessions near or around this time.

Can we have exclusive access to your venue? If we book all current experiences, can we have a private function?
We may have other Questers accessing our venue before or after your sessions that we need to be considerate of. If strict timing or privacy is a critical factor for your group, consider reaching out to us directly and requesting exclusive venue hire. We may be able to provide this to you at a negotiated rate.

Do you have a bar? Can we order or bring food and/or drinks?
Sorry, no! We are not a venue licenced for food, drink or liquor as we have chosen to focus on what we do best; electronic escape experiences. We can recommend some places you may wish to consider, however our venue is not designed to host functions with food and drinks. If you really want to include this as part of your celebration, we will do our best to support you as much as humanly possible, however we cannot offer any utensils or equipment for functions and you would need to bring your own. We also do not have a lot of space in our waiting room that is conducive to people sharing food together.

What are your ‘Corporate’ rates?
Our pricing structure is available on our website, with pricing scaling on the number of participants inside each individual experience. There are no further pricing arrangements beyond our 2, 3, 4 and 5 person rates for experiences.
